Electronic love letters

I sit and whisper soothing songs into my fingertips,
They wrap themselves around the words I type.
Electronic love letters sprayed with metaphors instead of perfumes,
sealed with emoticons instead of kisses.

I fit so neatly into the little square top right on your screen,
I’ve lived here for a while smiling sweetly.
When you’re not around I feel like I am stuck in a box filled with white noise,
much like divers in a cage surrounded by the ocean.

I guess what I’m trying to say is I’m sorry for being on the other side,
I keep trying to push my fingertips through.
Electronic love letters filled with the reminder that I can’t smell your perfume,
sealed with emoticons instead of kisses.
